John's Family
Kristi's Family
It has been a hectic few weeks since our last post! John continues to be busy at work...last week he spent a lot of time south of Mandan working with the fire department on 2 different fires on Corps property. In addition, he keeps busy keeping up with our garden. We have been enjoying fresh snow peas, green beans, tomatoes and cucumbers, lots of dill, peppers, we also have (but haven't harvested) jalepenos, zucchini, potatoes, carrots, kohlrabi. We also have one "stray" corn stalk that has just recently tasseled...not sure if we'll get anything from it, or if it will be worth eating...it might be better for the squirrels! We'll have to wait and see!
Kristi has been busy with her new job as principal. She has put in a lot of long hours to get things ready for school to start. Their first day of school was September 2. The school was in the final stages of constructing two new classrooms this past summer...one classroom is done, the other is not...so we've had to have a "make-shift" classroom for that group to start the school year. Last Friday, at the end of the regular work day, we began to move the school office to a different location...Kristi got to work at 8 a.m. that morning, and came home at midnight...back in on Saturday and Labor Day to finish. We'll have to bring a digital camera in to take a picture of her new "office"---it is constructed with 2 sections from a cubicle that was purchased at a rummage sale this summer...and a taller partial wall borrowed from one of the churches. It's not the best set up, but it's better than what was available before!
We are looking forward to our honeymoon! We will drive to Minneapolis this Sunday, and fly out Monday morning. We will arrive in Maui on the 8th...and return to Minneapolis on Tuesday the 16th. John's brother gets married on Friday the 19th in St. Paul, so we will have a few days in the twin cities after our Hawaii trip. We are excited to have 2 weeks to spend together---we really haven't seen much of each other lately with our work schedules, and days off being different. Not sure if we'll get any pictures posted from Hawaii during the trip...if there is a way to do it, we'll try! We haven't decided if we feel like hauling a laptop along!
That's about it...hope to hear from people soon!!!!
